This coming summer, Valentine Gardens will once again be offering experiential farm camps for kids seven and older. We will share with campers the understanding and appreciation of how food is grown organically and the hard work that goes into it.

Campers will participate in planting, weeding, harvesting, and animal care. They will learn the importance of organic practices like composting, no-till, and the inclusion of native plants to protect soil and water quality that are so important to healthy living.

Campers will also host a farmer’s market to learn the business aspects of selling produce. Our young farmers will learn about farm safety while working together and making friends. It will be a great mix of science, math, farming, exploration, appreciation for the environment, and camp fun! Each day we will pick and prepare our own snacks from the garden. Campers should dress to get dirty outdoors for all weather conditions.

In addition, we will be welcoming a guest each day to lead sessions for the campers. In past years, we have welcomed musicians, authors, artists, chefs, and yoga instructors. Many of our campers return year after year because there is always something new to learn and do at Valentine Gardens!
